Car Hack

I think that the majority of us associate hacking as a negative thing, when really it can be used in any way good or bad. Past videos have informed me the hacking is 'creative problem solving,' which I agree with. Hacking is most commonly used to get past an obstacle of some sort, using a method that may not have been given in the instructions. As I watched this video on hacking into a car, it was a little bit alarming. Mainly because at first it seems to be the opposite of a car's technological advancement, rather a drawback. This is only due to the fact that I thought of the negative side first-that anybody with some good computer skills could access someones car without even being in the same city. If an automobile, something that seems incredibly tangible compared to everything in a computer world, is vulnerable to online attacks than are we surrounded by cyber threats? Living in an almost entirely digital world do we feel the need to make everything linked in? The cars were obvously not created with digital equiptment so they could be hacked into, but the people creating it must have had the thought cross their mind. It is very possible this will become a more widespread idea, and soon transform into a notion that we should never even have car keys, and that our vehicles should be controlled by our phones. Although this may sound cool and innovative I'm not sure I want to live in a world where people are too lazy to walk around the block and manually open their car door when they can just press a button and have it drive over to them. That sounds like the path away from all things human.
